Sustainability in Action: Berner Air Curtains
Join us for an exciting in-person event where we’ll explore how one business has successfully navigated their journey to sustainability.
Join the Clean Energy Manufacturing Appalachia(CEMA) team as we engage in a conversation and tour with Berner Air Curtains on their sustainability journey. Berner has been in the business of saving energy and creating healthy, comfortable environments for customers for over 60 years.
Berner not only creates industry leading products to help companies lower their carbon footprint but since their inception they have incorporated sustainability practices in their operations. Most recently they installed a solar array that is capable of producing nearly 1 GW of power annually which supports their current operations as well as future facility expansions. The Berner team will walk through their lessons learned over the past 5 years and other measures they have taken to become more self-sufficient in their goal to be net zero.
Berner also produces air curtain and related products used for temperature protection, flying insect or fume & odor control. Air curtains help save energy and reduce CO2 emissions. Our discussion will highlight how marketing of energy efficiency products has evolved as the public dialog shifts over time.
From energy assessments, audits, treasure hunts, online calculators, and toolkits there can be an overwhelming amount of information available that can cause a company to choose not to engage. The CEMA team will provide resources and help companies start their process including access to mini-grants and identification of state or federal funding sources.
This event is geared towards manufacturers who are exploring or just starting to incorporate sustainability practices in their operations. These efforts could be focused on increased customer/employee satisfaction, operational efficiencies, reductions in emission intensity, waste reuse or recycling, or vendor driven mandates. Due to limited space, we ask no more than two representatives from each company sign up for the event.
We will also take a facility tour to highlight Berner’s sustainability practices in action. A casual lunch will be provided at the end of the meeting.
Attendance is limited to manufacturers within the CEMA footprint which can be found on the project website. Additionally, all manufacturers are encouraged to complete a 20 question online assessment prior to the event.
