OSHA 10-Hour Outreach Training Program

The OSHA 10-Hour Outreach Training Program for General Industry equips workers with essential knowledge about their rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint. Participants will learn how to identify, abate, avoid, and prevent job-related hazards. This course addresses a variety of safety and health risks that workers may encounter in a general industry worksite.

Key Training Topics (6 Hours Mandatory)

The following mandatory topics will be covered over the course of six hours:

  • Introduction to OSHA and the OSH Act
  • Walking and Working Surfaces, including Fall Protection
  • Exit Routes, Emergency Action Plans, Fire Prevention Plans, and Fire Protection
  • Electrical Safety
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Hazard Communication
Elective Topics (2 Hours)

The training will also cover two of the following elective topics for at least 30 minutes each, making up two hours of the program:

  • Hazardous Materials
  • Materials Handling
  • Machine Guarding
  • Introduction to Industrial Hygiene
  • Bloodborne Pathogens
  • Ergonomics
  • Safety and Health Programs
  • Fall Protection
Day 2: ASHI and CPR/AED Training

On day two, the OSHA training will continue with the American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI) Course, which meets the American Heart Association (AHA) requirements for educating lay rescuers on how to respond to medical emergencies. This course will cover:

  • Recognizing and responding to cardiac and respiratory arrest
  • Managing medical and traumatic emergencies
  • Early activation of “911” systems
  • Hands-on training for first aid response

The training will conclude with the CPR/AED Course (optional). While not mandatory for the OSHA 10-Hour Outreach certification, the CPR course provides valuable training based on AHA guidelines. This course covers:

  • Basic CPR techniques for adults
  • Recognizing the signs of emergencies, including heart attack, stroke, cardiac arrest, and choking
  • Hands-on practice with training mannequins
  • Key concepts such as scene surveys, patient assessments, and the cardiac chain of survival
  • AED use and infection control measures

Students will receive ample opportunity to practice CPR skills and prepare for real-life emergency situations.

Participants who complete the OSHA 10-Hour Outreach Training Program will receive a certificate of completion.
