Environmental Regulatory Compliance for Small Manufacturers
Environmental regulatory compliance is a concern for many small businesses. Whether you are an existing business, or just getting started, it is very important to determine what regulations apply and how to stay compliant. With today’s complex and ever-changing environmental regulations, it’s difficult to stay on top of it all, especially when you have so many priorities and often only limited resources to devote to any one of them.
This webinar will provide a brief overview of regulations that may be applicable to manufacturers. Additionally we will discuss waste minimization and energy efficiency opportunities. If your business operations discharge anything to the land, air or water, you may be subject to State DEP, Federal EPA and/or Allegheny County regulations and may even need a permit.

About the Speaker:
Lee Ann Briggs, REM, Environmental Consultant
Lee Ann is an Environmental Consultant with the Environmental Management Assistance Program (EMAP) at the University of Pittsburgh Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence (IEE). With over 30 years of experience, Lee Ann assists businesses with environmental and health and safety compliance, pollution prevention and sustainability opportunities for new business start-up, overall operation and/or potential expansion.
In addition to her experience working as an environmental consultant for EMAP at both the Duquesne University SBDC and the University of Pittsburgh SBDC, she was previously the Manager of Environmental and Regulatory Affairs for a paint and coatings manufacturer, providing full environmental, product safety and employee safety compliance for 9 years. Prior to that she was an Environmental Scientist/Project Manager with two different Environmental/Engineering Consulting firms.
Lee Ann holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Resource Management, Pennsylvania State University and is a Registered Environmental Manager (REM) with the National Registry of Environmental Professionals.
