Course Description
The Winning Teams Lean Certification Series, supported by Kata practice is designed to provide participants with a solid foundation in basic lean principles, including hands-on experience in the application of those principles.
- The program includes 6 days of classroom instruction as well as a practical application project Classroom dates are:
- September 6th, September 27th, October 13th, October 25th, November 10th, November 22nd
- The classroom training will be delivered at Catalyst Connection offices.
- Online coaching sessions (available) during which project report outs are presented and personal experiences (both successes and failures) are shared.
- Lean Certification is designed to prepare the participants to successfully apply lean principles, and to play an active role in their organization’s improvement efforts
- Certification is achieved by attending all classroom instruction, participation in the round table session, on-site project implementation, public presentation of project outcomes, and satisfactory completion of a written exam.
Classroom training includes instruction in the following lean tools:
- Value Stream Mapping and A3 thinking
- Lean Essentials / Project creation and planning for implementation of the training
- The 5S System for Workplace Organization and Visual Management
- Root Cause Analysis and Sustaining (Kata) practices
- Standard Work and Leader Standard Work
- Team project presentation and final exam for certification

About the Trainer

Eric MacDonald, Managing Director, Continuous Improvement
Eric joined Catalyst Connection, in 2013 as a Senior Continuous Improvement Consultant. Prior to joining Catalyst Connection, Eric has had 22 years experience in senior positions in the manufacturing sector including: electronics, medical, beverages, construction and plastics. He is accomplished in problem solving, lean principles, productivity and standardizing processes. His expertise in these areas has been a welcome addition to the Catalyst Connection team. Eric has a BS in Industrial Technology from California University of Pennsylvania and his MBA from Waynesburg University. He holds certifications in Practical Problem Solving, Value Stream Mapping and Lean Kaizen event facilitation.
