Earlier this month, Catalyst Connection released the “Manufacturing Employment Demand Study” as part of its Making Your Future initiative to support manufacturing job growth in Southwestern Pennsylvania and gain a better understanding of the current and projected demand for workers and the skill sets sought after the regions’ employers.
So what does that mean for employers? Based off the results of the report, manufacturers will need to put their focus on becoming an “Employer of Choice”. The world’s most successful organizations get superior business results by doing two simple things exceptionally well: they build effective programs to select, develop, and retain talent; and they engage, and invest in, all employees — from the executive suite to the shop floor — by giving them tools for solving problems and taking ownership of their roles. Becoming a successful “Employer of Choice” will attract more talented job seekers and ultimately reduce turnover and result in more applicants.
