Lean Certification
The Lean Certification program is designed to provide participants with a solid foundation in basic lean principles, including hands-on experience in the application of those principles. The program includes six days of classroom instruction as well as a minimum of two days of practical application. In addition, program participants attend roundtable sessions during which selected topics are explored in detail, and personal experiences (both successes and failures) are shared. Lean Certification is designed to prepare the participants to successfully apply lean principles, and to play an active role in their organization’s improvement efforts. Certification is achieved by attending all classroom sessions, participation in round table discussions, successful on-site project implementation and satisfactory completion of a written exam.
Classroom training includes instruction in the following topics:
- Principles of lean manufacturing with live simulation
- Value stream mapping
- The 5S system of workplace organization and standardization
- Quick changeover / setup reduction
- Cellular manufacturing
- Kaizen method and how to be a change agent
Practical application includes a minimum of two days of:
- Expert support in the selection and implementation of a meaningful Lean application in your operation
- Opportunities to observe and/or participate in the onsite implementations of others in the certification program
Interactive sharing of four ½ days includes:
- Roundtable discussions with peers, facilitated by Catalyst Connection’s lean experts
- Discussion of lean topics in detail, after completing assigned reading on the subject
- Sharing experiences with peers, learning from other’s successes, as well their mistakes
Participants also receive two significant books written by recognized authorities on lean as part of the program.
